Coach questions
Coach FAQ
Entry, divisions, the season and the age cutoff — answered plainly. If your question isn’t here, ask it on the interest form and someone will be in touch.
Can a team enter without WorldPath Points?
Yes. Regionals, Nationals and Worlds are open to all teams — no qualification and no points are required to register. WorldPath Points help determine seeding and division placement; they are not an entry requirement. A team with no points yet can still be placed: the competition committee can use available performance history.
Which divisions will an event offer?
Up to four: the Championship Division and Divisions 2, 3 and 4. Divisions are offered when age-group registration depth supports multiple brackets, so not every event or age group will offer all four. The highest applicable WorldPath Points totals receive priority placement in the Championship Division. Each event page lists its published divisions.
When does the season begin?
The Road to Worlds season runs August 1 to July 31. Three dates matter in the first year: the platform is announced October 1, 2026; WorldPath Points are awarded for the first time at the iFlag National Championship in January 2027; and Road to Worlds officially begins August 1, 2027. The inaugural points window runs from January 2027 through July 31, 2028. Standard annual scoring begins August 1, 2028.
When does the August 1 age cutoff take effect?
August 1, 2027, when Road to Worlds officially begins. From that date the age cutoff moves from January 1 to August 1. A player’s exact age on the applicable cutoff sets their official age group — so a player who is 12 on August 1, 2027 is 12U for the 2027–28 season, subject to other eligibility requirements. Events before August 1, 2027 use the cutoff published for that event.
How does a coach register or request information?
Where registration is open, the event page has a Register button that goes straight to registration. Not ready to commit? Use Interested? on any event page — tell us your club, age groups and any question, and someone from iFlag Youth will be in touch. Submitting interest does not reserve an entry.
Do we need to play in a Premier Circuit to enter Nationals or Worlds?
No. Clubs do not have to qualify through a Premier Circuit or earn a bid to register for Regionals, Nationals or Worlds. Registration remains subject to published eligibility rules, deadlines and event capacity.
What are WorldPath Points?
WorldPath Points recognise participation and performance across Road to Worlds and help determine seeding and competitive division placement at future tournaments. They are not a national ranking and not an entry requirement. Full scoring details will be announced in December 2026.
What is a Premier Circuit tournament like?
Pool-play games followed by divisional single-elimination playoffs, so every team plays on into the weekend. Circuits run in five markets — SoCal, NorCal, Tampa Bay, Las Vegas and Dallas — and each event page lists its dates, venue and age groups.
Which age groups are offered?
Every 2027 Road to Worlds tournament offers boys and girls age groups 7U, 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U, 15U, 16U, 17U and 18U, odd and even years. Age groups may be combined based on participation. Playing formats are published event by event, and a tournament that publishes its own division list — the CFP Flag Football Showcase, for one — follows that list.
What are Regionals?
iFlag Regional Championships will be announced as new Premier Circuits launch. Specific events, dates and host markets will be published as they are confirmed.
Full WorldPath Points scoring details will be announced in December 2026. Registration for every event is subject to published rules, deadlines and event capacity.
